Lyrics
Sitting here with this empty space between us
I’m wondering where our lives have gone
A pocketful of promises
We thought that we could keep
Now we’re breaking up in pieces
and collapsing in a heap
2 chords and a minute
To let us know that we are through
Take 2 chords and a minute times too
Living here beside you is more than i can bear
Leaving you behind is worse i swear
But what can we do
If our lives are torn apart
What can we do
To make a start
Take 2 notes and a minute
To let us know that we are through
Take 2 chords and a minute times too
Take 2 notes and a minute
To let us know that we are through
Take 2 chords and a minute times too
Take 2 notes and a minute
To let us know that we are through
Take 2 chords and a minute times too
Take 2 notes and a minute
To let us know that we are through
Take 2 chords and a minute times too
Story
What a surprise... it's a wonderful gift, such an original version...
After a childhood immersed in church music, Joy Clark is now an acclaimed singer-songwriter and incredible guitarist from New Orleans.
We love her songs, her voice... she reminds us a little of Tracy Chapman...
A proud, queer Black woman, her magnificent debut album "Tell it to the Wind" is both a declaration of independence and a love letter to the traditions that shaped her. We invite you to listen to it.
Here's her version of "2 Chords and a Minute," which she calls, in private message, "2 Powers of Love"...
